Prickly Pear
Project type
Alcohol Ink on Masonite
Date
December 2019
Location
Fort Myers, Florida
The prickly pear cactus showcases beautiful blossoms and fruit pods commonly used for food, drink and medicine. The sandy, gravelly soil around boulders and on rocky dry terrain is this cactus' primary habitat. Once the spiny bristles are removed, the ripe fruit which is a bright purplish-pink can be harvested for juice, jam or syrup. This artist, once again, found the subject interesting due to it's color, texture and adaptability.
